Are you currently enrolled as a student at Nunavik Sivunitsavut? Here are the key dates you should keep in mind for the 2018-2019 school year.

2018 Fall Semester

September 4-9: Orientation
September 10: First day of classes
October 8-12: Thanksgiving/Goose Break
November 5-9: Cultural Retreat Week
December 14*: Last day of Fall Semester

2019 Winter Semester

January 7-11: Student visits to Nunavik Communities (presentations)
January 14: First day of classes
March 1: Application Deadline the 2019-2020 school year
March 4-8: Spring Break
April 1-5: On-the-land course
April 26*: Last day of classes

*Note: The date of the last day of classes can change, depending on special events, weather, etc.


This section highlights some of the opportunities available to students. This list is not exhaustive, and we strongly encourage students to explore options beyond the programs identified below.

The Makivik Corporation manages a scholarship program created to promote and encourage post-secondary education for Inuit Beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (JBNQA).

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply to receive funding under the program.

Application deadlines
The deadline to submit your application for the Scholarship Program is September 30th and February 15th. Applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria detailed in the application form.

To apply for the Scholarship Program, you will need to submit the following documents:

  1. A copy of your most recent post-secondary school transcript
  2. Proof of registration in a post-secondary institution and intention of pursuing your program of studies (unless it is your last semester)
  3. The duly completed application form
